LES ACTIVITÉS EXTRA-CURRICULAIRES INTERMÉDIAIRE 1

In light of the Foreign Languages department’s “No Make-up Policy” related to course assignments (quizzes, tests, etc.), here are 4 optional Extra Credit Assignments offered throughout the semester. These Extra Credit assignments are scattered throughout the semester and should be completed when they are due. If you have any questions, please speak to your instructor.

All activities cover various modes of communication as defined by the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, and reinforce the New School educational approach through project-based learning and digital literacy.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 1: CE QUE JE MANGE EN UNE SEMAINE

(using Flipgrid) (oral presentational communication)

TOPIC: Many Youtubers like to describe their eating habits by using the formula “What I eat in a week.''   Record yourself talking about what you eat in a week, much like a Youtube diary. You can talk about specific things you ate this week, or about what you usually eat every week. Prepare some notes in advance of what you are going to say for this video, but do not read directly from the paper!  Be honest!

Instructions: Go to FLIPGRID:   When prompted, open with Google: it is set up to accept your Newschool email. Then click on the green circle and start recording! (3 mns minimum)

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 2:  MA CHANSON FRANÇAISE PRÉFÉRÉE:  

(using PADLET) (written analytical communication)

TOPIC:  Choose a song in French that you like, and write a review (about 1 paragraph). Explain why you chose the song: you can discuss the lyrics, melody, the feeling, the music video, etc.

Instructions: Go to: https://padlet.com/massem/jh7gffp81tyq Click on the pink button and start typing. You can upload a video of the song by clicking on the 3 dots next to the camera and by copying the URL. The video will automatically upload.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 3: UN MOT ADOPTÉ

TOPIC:  Watch a video about francophone culture and vocabulary, and answer the accompanying questions.

Once on the page, make sure to login as a student, using your New School email, then click ‘play’ on the video and answer the questions.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 4:  MA MARQUE PRÉFÉRÉE:  

(using Animoto) (oral presentational communication)

TOPIC: You have been asked to create an ad for your favorite brand. It cab a a clothing or make-up brand, a food brand, or any product you like. You will need to use images or video clips to create your ad. You will also have to write text in the ad.

Instructions: Go to: ANIMOTO (https://animoto.com/) Sign up with your email. Once on the page, click on create. On the next page, choose Animoto Memories. On the next page, choose a template. When you are finished with the video, you must click "PREVIEW" to see the final edit, and then "PUBLISH" to complete the project. Once published, you will see a screen with multiple sharing options. Copy the URL and paste into an email to your professor. (2 mns minimum)
